The Founder - Alison Shawcroft

about chic a velo

Bonjour! A Francophile for many years, I finally realised my dream of living in France and hopped over the Channel in 2006 settling in the stunning Loire Valley, where I run a cycling holiday business.

Chatting with my female guests over a glass of wine, we'd all agree how hard it was to find stylish and feminine clothing for leisure cycling.

We'd all searched in vain to find flattering and comfortable gear that looked as great on the café terrace as on the bike.

Along came COVID, bringing the cycling holidays to a screeching halt. Ouch! But every cloud....and finally I had some time and space to solve this clothing dilemma for myself and YOU!

Working with a brilliant designer, I've brought my ideas to life.

Design

With inspiration derived from French architecture, textures and graphic stripes, from classic style shutters mixed with the femininity of French peonies.

Timeless styles and colours, and an attention to detail in quality and construction, are at the heart of our collection.

Thoughtful, practical design touches for cycling, including neck lines for added sun protection, zip pockets and concealed adjustable waistbands, are incorporated without compromising style and elegance.

The fabrics and manufacturers selected reflect our desire to work in an eco-friendly and sustainable way.

Ethical & Sustainable

We believe a new clothing brand has to have sustainability at its heart. This starts with making products to last.

It's about quality, not quantity. It's about ethics more than profit.

We work with eco-friendly and sustainable fabrics including lyocell, organic cotton and recycled polyamide.

Our manufacturers are in the European Union and share our values, helping to ensure environmentally sustainable production in ethical working environments.
